this morning was perfect.
i woke up ((as usual)) to the frantic sounds of my baby girl looking to be snuggled around 4:30am.
i got to sleep 30 minutes longer than i have as of late. this is progress.
she loves waking up after a long night of sleep ((with lots of snacking throughout)). she squeals with delight, straightens all of her limbs and shakes them with excitement. she screams. she laughs. she is a little rowdy girl in the morning. i thrust her into the air and hold her gummy grinning face over mine. i make exaggerated sound effects and facial expressions. its now 4:55am.
the best part is when we sneak back into bed before the sun comes up. her morning nap is really the only time i let her sleep in bed with me. we cuddle up close and we sleep. her chubby cheek pressed against my bare chest. i treasure these morning snuggles as i think about how quickly she is growing and how fleeting time is. these early days are so precious.
then. my sweet husband came home during a short break from work to surprise me hot tea and breakfast in bed from our favorite cafe.
we were still asleep so he climbed into bed with us.
i loved it.
i love bitter cold winter mornings. i love getting cozy. i love hot tea.
there is something about being so warm when the world is so cold.
